A potential champion in the making?

Jay Goodwin passed his ARKS Test in January 2006 after spending 8 months gaining experience at karting indoors. As a learning curve for Jay he competed at Wigan, GYG and PFI for their Championships during 2006. After 12 months of 'learning how to kart', Jay was ready to 'race the world' and indeed 2007 proved a very important year for learning how the kart worked mechanically, and enabled Jay to learn how to drive the kart more effectively. He came 10th in the Wigan Club Championship in 2007. Jay was entered into not only the National Championships in 2008 for Stars of Tomorrow (which is filmed by Sky TV) but also for Super 1's National Kart Championship, which involved travelling all over the UK and also to Europe.

Zipped up...

In 2008 Jay was chosen to be member of the Zip Racing team. Zip Kart founder, Martin Hines, created the Young Guns Team to allow talented young kart drivers to realise their potential by providing them with the best racing equipment and support available. With names such as David Coulthard (F1), Anthony Davidson (F1), Gary Paffett (MCLAREN F1 Tester), Jason Plato (BTCC), Luke Hines (BGT), Mike Conway (Brit F3) and Lewis Hamilton (F. Renault), amongst others to have all benefited from his guidance, and with Stevie Hodgson (mechanic), Jay was in a team that would surely help him to develop as a racer.

Stevie and Jay worked well together and Jay took on-board any advice he was given by Stevie, given his experience, to help him improve his driving skills and make him faster.

Strawberry Racing tastes sweet...

At the concluding end of the 2010 season, Jay had impressed and, Strawberry Racing realised the true potential. Jay joined Strawberry Racing in 2011 without hesitation where he is currently learning from some of the very best in the Karting arena with manager Warwick Ringham guiding him all the way.

Strawberry racing allowed Jay to race in Europe and the UK during the 2011 season and is planning to race in Europe and UK in 2012 season too.
